PH/PH/1 Queueing Models in Mathematica for Performance Evaluation

چکیده
⎯A review of queueing applications indicates that many researchers have intelligently adapted its theoretical results to develop an easy and effective analytical tool that can be applied to manufacturing system planning. In particular, the PH/PH/1 distribution has been studied extensively for GI/G/1 queue models. We present Mathematica programs that calculate algebraically the probability distribution of the system states from the Matrix-Geometric solution procedures of a PH/PH/1 queue with first-come first-served discipline. The advantage in using Mathematica packages (1996) for solving a general queueing problem is also described. A matrix-analytic solution for the DBMAP/PH/1 priority queue
Abstract Priority queueing models have been commonly used in telecommunication systems. The development of analytically tractable models to determine their performance is vitally important. The discrete time batch Markovian arrival process (DBMAP ) has been widely used to model the source behavior of data traffic, while phase-type (PH) distribution has been extensively applied to model the serv...
متن کاملSuper-Exponential Solution in Markovian Supermarket Models: Framework and Challenge
Marcel F. Neuts opened a key door in numerical computation of stochastic models by means of phase-type (PH) distributions and Markovian arrival processes (MAPs). To celebrate his 75th birthday, this paper reports a more general framework of Markovian supermarket models, including a system of differential equations for the fraction measure and a system of nonlinear equations for the fixed point....
متن کاملThe Discrete Time MMAP[K]/PH[K]/1/LCFS-GPR Queue and Its Variants
Abstract: In this paper, we study a discrete time queueing system with multiple types of customers and a last-come-first-served general preemptive resume (LCFS-GPR) service discipline (MMAP[K]/PH[K]/1/LCFS-GPR). When the waiting space is infinite, matrix analytic methods are used to find a system stability condition, to derive the distributions of the busy periods and sojourn times, and to obta...
متن کاملBuTools 2: a Rich Toolbox for Markovian Performance Evaluation
BuTools 2 is collection of computational methods that are useful for Markovian and non-Markovian matrix analytic performance analysis. It consists of various packages. There are packages to obtain, analyze, transform and minimize discrete and continuous time phase-type (PH) distributions and Markovian arrival processes (MAP); to fit empirical measurement data and to evaluate the result; to solv...
متن کاملSojourn time distributions in the queue defined by a general QBD process
We consider a general QBD process as defining a FIFO queue and obtain the stationary distribution of the sojourn time of a customer in that queue as a matrix exponential distribution, which is identical to a phase-type distribution under a certain condition. Since QBD processes include many queueing models where the arrival and service process are dependent, these results form a substantial gen...
